“Some of the ingredients could be stronger”
SHRED HER is a thermogenic fat burner, designed specifically for women. NLA for Her call it an “All Natural Ultra Concentrated Fat Burner”.
They further explain that it is “…scientifically formulated and dosed for females…”.
Before we get into the main body of the review, we’ll highlight the advertised benefits of Shred Her:
- Elevates Energy Levels and Mood
- Increases Fat Loss
- Appetite Suppressant
That’s the standard promises made by most fat burner products these days. There’s nothing too unbelievable or full of hyper there, which is nice to see for a change.
SHRED HER – Detailed Review
First, let’s tackle this point of female specificity. Is that a necessary, useful, or even possible thing?
The answers lie in the formula, which we will get to, but it’s worth mentioning that very ingredients in fat burners are more suited to one gender or the other.
Perhaps testosterone boosters, estrogen blockers and so on, but fat burners are pretty universal.
Dosage is a different matter. Metabolism, muscle mass and fat mass vary between men and women, so there might be a case for a female-specific dose of these ingredients.
Having said that, very few ingredients are understood so fully that we know the true optimum dosage for humans, let alone a particular gender.
Anyway…to the product itself. How effective is it? – that’s up to the inclusions they’ve put in the capsules…
Key Ingredients and Formula Strength
The following ingredients are part of a propriety blend which comes to 1180mg in 2 capsules:
- Green Tea extract
- Taurine
- Caffeine Anhydrous
- Citrus Aurantium
- Green Coffee extract
- Raspberry Ketones
- Ursolic Acid
- Guarana extract
Green Tea, Caffeine, Citrus Aurantium, and Guarana are noted thermogenic fat burners. The exact dosages of each cannot be known due to the proprietary nature of the formula.
However, we can tell that the biggest dose will be Green Tea, followed by Caffeine, Citrus Aurantium and Guarana.
Taurine has been shown in studies to increase insulin sensitivity. This is most useful for diabetics of course, but anyone who has caused their insulin to become resistant through bad dieting habits may benefit.
Green Coffee contains Chlorogenic Acid, which can prevent the uptake of some carbs consumed. Again, the dose is unknown, but it is not likely to be significant enough to have much effect.
Raspberry Ketones have a mixed reception. Some people wholly trust that it can burn fat, but the scientific research shows humans would find it difficult to get the benefits due to the sheer amount we would need.
Ursolic Acid involved in scientific studies shows mild promise of being in some way helpful with the reduction of fat, or at least the absorption of fat from food. The second potential benefit is to performance and power output. Dosage is unknown.
Proprietary blends are a headache because we can’t dissect the formula into the individual dosages.
The ingredients selected are mostly well chosen and some are proven fat burners.
On the downside, the doses may be low in some cases given the total is only 1180mg.
Side Effects and Health Issues
We can’t be 100% sure about the effects of ingredients for different people at the best of times, but proprietary blends make it a little harder again.
High levels of stimulants can cause a few unwanted effects for people who are sensitive to them. This includes effects like the jitters, nausea, cramps, headaches, heart palpitations and so on. These are usually harmless though and reduce as you get used to the product.
Avoid other sources of caffeine while taking the product and take half doses at the beginning if you are unsure.
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use Shred Her, or any other fat burner supplement. Nor should people who are using prescription medication or those that have a medical condition.
Is SHRED HER Recommended?
It’s not bad at all with respect to the ingredients. On the other hand, it may be under-dosed in some places considering there 8 active ingredients and not much total inclusion weight to go around.
It is good to see a product being geared towards women, but this also seems to be more of a gimmick than a useful application. There are no ingredients that men shouldn’t use, or that specifically help women.
Using it, you will notice a caffeine kick if you have been off the coffee for a couple of weeks as we recommend. Other than that, we didn’t have much in the way of results.
We only recommend a handful of products. These products are rated the highest because we have seen and felt results when using them.
