Thermo X is one of many fat burner supplements from the company SciTec Nutrition. It is in capsule form, and offers an “ephedrine free, mildly caffeinated formula” according to the marketing material.
From the ingredients, it appears to fall somewhere in between an appetite suppressor, fat burner and a nootropic supplement.
All of those elements work well together when the dosages are good and the ingredients well selected.
Compared to other fat burners, Thermo X didn’t have much to get excited about on first inspection, so we took a closer look.

Thermo X – Detailed Review
Thermo X seems to be the compromise, or maybe the ‘multi-tool’ of the SciTec fat loss line up.
It’s got a stimulant, a cognitive enhancer, a fat transporter and an appetite control ingredient. There is much to be said for all of these factors when it comes to dieting and exercise in general.
The mental toughness required to be in a calorie deficit while also working out is often underestimated.
Can a pill help with that? – Theoretically, yes. L-Tyrosine is the nootropic inclusion in Thermo X. It has a lot of involvement in the activity of neurotransmitters in the brain, particularly those linked to the Central Nervous System (CNS); adrenaline, noradrenaline etc.
The hunger control comes from the Hydroxycitric Acid in Garcinia Cambogia and Alpha Lipoic Acid, although these have effects which last a couple of weeks.
L-Carnitine is the fat transporter which can be useful during periods of intense exercise. It takes fat to the mitochondria of cells, where it is burned for fuel.
Key Ingredients and Formula Strength
We’ve discussed most of the formula in the section above, but here is the recipe in full:
- L-Tyrosine – 600mg
- L-Carnitine L-Tartrate – 300mg
- Garcinia Cambogia extract – 300mg
(min. 60% Hydroxycitric Acid) - Caffeine – 180mg
- Alpha Lipoic Acid – 150mg
When we directly compare this formula with other SciTec products and those by other companies, Thermo X is fairly good in some areas and weak in others.
The caffeine and L-Tyrosine are dosed quite well.
L-Carnitine, Alpha Lipoic Acid and Garcinia Cambogia could be present in higher quantities if we’re being honest.
Generally speaking, weight management pills that try and do too many things at once usually turn out to have less effect than one which is more focused on one pathway to fat reduction.
Side Effects and Health Issues
The average person should not experience a problem with Thermo X, provided they are not consuming other sources of caffeine alongside it.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid Thermo X, as should people with medical conditions or anyone taking prescription medication.

Is Thermo X Recommended?
We wouldn’t go for Thermo X if we had the choice of other fat burners, even including those on the SciTec product line.
It seems to be the compromise product for people who want their fat loss pill to do everything.
The problem is: there is not enough room in these little capsules to fit everything you need to accomplish that.
So, no, we do not recommend Thermo X.
